Dhaka: Five parliamentary committees, including the Business Advisory Committee, were established on the inaugural day of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad session. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed announced the formation of the Business Advisory Committee and the House Committee during the session, while Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni proposed the names for three additional committees.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the proposals for the Special Committee, the Committee on Privileges, and the Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Resolutions were later approved through a voice vote in the House. The committees were constituted during the session of parliament presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
The Business Advisory Committee is set to be chaired by the Speaker, with its members including Leader of the House Tareque Rahman, Leader of the Opposition Shafiqul Rahman, and other notable figures such as Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and several others.
The House Committee will have Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni at its helm, with members like Rakibul Islam, Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Opu, Kaysar Ahmed, and others participating. A 14-member special committee has also been formed to examine 133 ordinances issued during the interim government’s tenure, chaired by Zainal Abedin.
The Committee on Privileges, which will be led by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, includes members such as Leader of the House Tareque Rahman, Opposition Leader Shafiqul Rahman, and others. The Committee on Private Members’ Bills and Private Members’ Resolutions will be chaired by Md Shahjahan, including members like Asaduzzaman and Aman Ullah Aman.
All three committees proposed by the chief whip received approval from the House through a voice vote.
