Two Men Sentenced for Threatening Police During Jatrabari Footpath Clearance

Dhaka: A court in Dhaka has sentenced two men to five days of imprisonment each for threatening a police officer on duty during a footpath clearance operation in the Jatrabari area.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court handed down the sentence to Md. Tuhin (24) and Md. Arif (30) after they were produced before the court following their arrest. The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by the Jatrabari Police Station and Traffic Police to clear footpaths from illegal occupation at Mawa Incoming Road and Shaheed Faruk Sarani.



Police reported that the incident occurred on Saturday when the two accused allegedly made objectionable remarks and issued various threats to police personnel performing their duties. In response, the police immediately detained them from the spot and later brought them before the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court.



After hearing the case, the court sentenced both individuals to five days of imprisonment. Police officials have stated that such drives will continue in the area to maintain clear footpaths and ensure public order.
