Government Announces New Portfolios for Advisers and State Ministers

Dhaka: The government has announced a reshuffling of portfolios involving two advisers and eight state ministers, as detailed in separate gazette notifications released by the Cabinet Division. This move is poised to bring significant changes in the administrative responsibilities within various ministries.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Nazrul Islam Khan will now also serve as adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture. Additionally, Political Adviser Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has been appointed as adviser to the Ministry of Industries. These changes are part of a broader strategy to streamline and optimize governmental operations.



Among the eight state ministers affected by the reshuffle, Md Shariful Alam has been assigned the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. Sultan Salauddin Tuku, who previously managed responsibilities across multiple ministries including Fisheries and Livestock, Agriculture, and Food, will now focus solely on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.



In further adjustments, Habibur Rashid has been appointed as the state minister for both the Ministry of Railways and the Road Transport and Highways Division. Md Razib Ahsan will take charge as the state minister for the Ministry of Shipping and the Bridges Division, enhancing oversight in critical infrastructure sectors.



Md Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki has been assigned to the Ministry of Planning, while Farzana Sharmin will serve in the Ministry of Social Welfare. Md Nurul Haque has been appointed as the state minister for the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. Lastly, Bobby Hajjaj will oversee the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.



The government has stipulated that these changes will take immediate effect, aiming to bolster efficiency and effectiveness across these key areas of governance.
