PM Enquires About Bangladeshis in Middle East Amid Iran-Israel Tensions

Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday enquired about the condition of Bangladeshis living in the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Humayun Kabir, met the prime minister at the Secretariat in the morning, said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.



According to United News of Bangladesh, the prime minister sought information on the condition of Bangladeshis in Middle Eastern countries in light of the developments in Iran and provided necessary instructions. The meeting also addressed the cancellation of numerous Middle East-bound flights and associated issues resulting from the conflict.



Rumon stated that the prime minister is closely monitoring the situation of stranded passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, along with the State Minister, are executing the prime minister’s directives, with the state minister present at the airport since morning. The Expatriates’ Welfare Minister has also been actively overseeing the situation.



The additional press secretary mentioned that the prime minister arrived at his office at the Secretariat at 9:10 am. As part of his day’s schedule, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu also met him to discuss post-earthquake disaster management and to instruct the authorities to prepare an action plan for such emergencies.



After the meeting, Asadul Habib Dulu informed reporters that the prime minister directed the preparation of one lakh volunteers in Dhaka to respond to post-earthquake emergencies. Later, the Power and Energy Minister also conferred with the prime minister, as reported by the additional press secretary.
