Work Underway to Bring Relief in City Dwellers’ Life: DNCC Administrator

Dhaka: Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Shafiqul Islam Khan has said they are ready to work round the clock to restore comfort and relief for the city dwellers.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khan made these remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting the Korail slum. He emphasized their continuous efforts to ensure that people can live with some degree of comfort, highlighting that they are active at the field level and committed to making tangible improvements visible soon.



Regarding mosquito eradication activities, Khan mentioned the formation of a special monitoring cell to implement their plans effectively. He expressed optimism that regular supervision and coordinated measures would lead to positive outcomes for residents in the near future.



In response to questions, Khan reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling its electoral promises. He outlined ongoing initiatives to repair roads, protect lakes, and develop a more livable urban environment. He assured that they are working diligently to meet the expectations of the electorate who have placed their trust in them.



State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, who was also present during the visit, announced that data collection is ongoing in the Korail area for the distribution of family cards. He assured that eligible individuals would receive these cards free of charge, with funds being transferred directly to their bank accounts. Alam urged residents not to pay bribes to anyone for obtaining the card.



He further informed that inspections of water bodies and footpaths are underway. Measures are being implemented to eradicate mosquitoes and remove encroachments from sidewalks in phases, all under the directives of the Prime Minister.



The visit also saw the presence of other key officials, including Secretary to the Local Government Division Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Waste Management Officer Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Chief Health Officer Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, Chief Engineer Syed Rakibul Hasan, and heads of various departments.
