Govt to Modernize and Boost Profitability of State-Owned Industries: Sharmin

Gopalpur: State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin today announced that the government will initiate measures to modernize all state-owned industries, including sugar mills, to enhance their profitability. She made these remarks during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee of the North Bengal Sugar Mill Workers’ Union at Gopalpur in Natore, where she served as the chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmin emphasized the importance of all stakeholders performing their duties efficiently and responsibly to ensure the profitability of sugar mills. In her dual role as State Minister for Social Welfare, she assured that the government would provide workers with their rightful benefits, create a safe working environment, and offer maximum welfare facilities.



The state minister highlighted the need to increase sugar production by expanding sugarcane cultivation, indicating that this step is crucial for the sugar industry’s shift towards profitability. She stressed the importance of coordination between farmers and employees working in sugar mills to achieve these goals.



The event was chaired by the Managing Director of North Bengal Sugar Mill, Farid Hossain Bhuiyan, and attended by Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Lalpur, Julhas Hossain Sourav, who participated as a special guest. The ceremony also introduced the newly elected committee of the North Bengal Sugar Mill Workers’ Union, led by President Mominul Islam Ma.
