Dhaka: The Ministry of Law has adopted a stringent approach to tackle irregularities in office attendance, issuing a stern warning to officials and employees about facing disciplinary action for late arrivals, unauthorized absences, or leaving work early without prior consent.
According to United News of Bangladesh, an official order issued by the Law and Justice Division on Monday referenced the 'Government Employees (Regular Attendance) Rules, 2019', categorizing absence without permission, late attendance, and early departures as offenses subject to punishment. It mandates that all government officials and employees must be present in their designated offices by 9:00 a.m. on working days, and no departures are allowed before the end of official working hours.
The order specifies that during the month of Ramadan, the earliest permissible departure time is 3:30 p.m., while after Ramadan, employees are not allowed to leave before 5:00 p.m. The directive also necessitates obtaining prior permission from the head of the respective sub-division, such as the Joint Secretary or Solicitor, for any official or urgent departures.
Furthermore, the order outlines the requirement for employees to log their departures in the office leaving register and ensure digital attendance compliance as per the 'Government Employees (Regular Attendance) Rules, 2019'. Any breach of these regulations will lead to disciplinary measures under both the 'Government Employees (Regular Attendance) Rules, 2019' and the 'Government Employees (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018'.
