Scrap Trader Loses Life as Three-Wheeler Overturns in Joypurhat

Joypurhat: A scrap trader was killed and another was critically injured when a locally made three-wheeler, known as Bhutbhuti, overturned in the Kalai upazila of Joypurhat district today. The tragic accident took place around 3:00 pm at the Punot bus stand area on the Joypurhat-Bogura highway under Kalai upazila.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased has been identified as Russell Mondol, 35, a resident of Jamalpur Palpara village under Joypurhat Sadar upazila. His father is Liton Mondol. Sources from the police and family revealed that Russell was en route to Shibganj upazila in Bogura to sell collected scrap materials when the incident occurred.



The vehicle lost control upon reaching the Punot area, resulting in it overturning on the highway. Russell Mondol suffered severe injuries to his head and chest, leading to his death on the spot. The three-wheeler’s driver sustained injuries and was rescued by locals who admitted him to Kalai Upazila Health Complex. His identity remains unconfirmed.



Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam informed BSS that after receiving information about the accident, police quickly arrived at the scene to recover the body. Legal procedures are currently underway.
