Washington: US President Donald J. Trump has extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his recent assumption of office, expressing his aspiration for enhanced defence cooperation between the United States and Bangladesh.

According to United News of Bangladesh, President Trump, in his message to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, highlighted the importance of completing routine defence agreements. These agreements would facilitate Bangladesh’s military access to high-end American-made equipment, which President Trump described as the best globally. He emphasized his eagerness to collaborate with the new Prime Minister to fortify the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The partnership, as noted by President Trump, is founded on mutual respect and a shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region where sovereign nations can thrive. He also expressed hope that Prime Minister Tarique would help maintain and enhance the momentum in trade relations through the implementation of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, benefiting both nations’ farmers and workers.

President Trump voiced his confidence in Ambassador Brent Christensen, his representative in Bangladesh, and underscored the opportunity to enhance prosperity and security for both countries through joint efforts. He concluded his message by wishing Prime Minister Tarique success in his term as the leader of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
