Bangladesh: The Bangladesh Army today issued a warning that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The announcement was made during a press briefing at Shibbari intersection in the city, following a joint patrol drill conducted by various law enforcement agencies.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the briefing was addressed by Lt. Col. Tayef, the commanding officer of Army Camp (17 Bir). He highlighted the Army's ongoing efforts at the grassroots level in Khulna district over the past one and a half years. He emphasized the collaboration between the Navy, BGB, RAB, Coast Guard, Police, various intelligence agencies, and the Election Commission to ensure a peaceful election environment.
Lt. Col. Tayef also mentioned that joint forces have established camps at different locations in Khulna since February 6, aimed at performing security duties. He assured that necessary measures have been implemented to provide voters with a safe and secure environment, allowing them to cast their ballots without fear.
He further stated that surveillance has been intensified at every polling centre and that efforts will be made to quickly respond to any issues that may arise. He reiterated that any attempts to disrupt the election will be met with strict action. The joint patrol drill at Shibbari intersection was part of the broader security arrangements in preparation for the election.
