Dhaka: Hafez Muhammad Enayat Ullah, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for Dhaka-7 in the upcoming election, has committed to tackling terrorism, extortion, and drug-related issues within his constituency. He also plans to reform what he describes as discriminatory business laws that currently affect the area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Enayat Ullah, a businessman running with the Dardipalla symbol, emphasized the need to address the drug problem, which he says harms the social environment and contributes to crime. He warned of the risks posed to families, society, and future generations if drugs are not eradicated. Additionally, Enayat Ullah criticized existing business regulations, including Income Tax, VAT, Mobile Court, and Safe Food laws, for harassing traders in the business hub of Dhaka-7. He promised to advocate for legislative reforms in parliament to foster a business-friendly environment with judicial transparency, especially in food safety testing and business loss acknowledgment.
During an interview, Enayat Ullah shared his election pledges, including a focus on engaging the youth in sports and co-curricular activities to combat drug addiction. He plans to form cricket, football, and badminton teams in every ward and reclaim occupied spaces for public recreational use. He also discussed maintaining adherence to election codes of conduct and addressing violations by rivals. Enayat Ullah expressed his support for the 'July Charter' referendum and optimism for a fair election, emphasizing his strong stance against terrorism, drugs, and corruption.
Dhaka-7 encompasses wards 23 to 36 and 56 to 57 of the Dhaka South City Corporation, with 479,377 registered voters. Other candidates include Hamidur Rahman of BNP, Mohammad Saifuddin Ahmed Milan of Jatiya Party, and several from other political parties and independent backgrounds.
