Dhaka: Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities today announced the suspension of all classes and examinations on February 9 and 10 to facilitate voting in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum-2026 scheduled for February 12. The decision aims to accommodate the electoral process and ensure that students can participate in the national event without academic obligations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was taken following applications from the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) and general students. The suspension was issued under the directive of the university authorities, as outlined in a notification signed by acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman.
The authorities have also sought cooperation from all concerned parties to ensure the smooth implementation of this decision, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming national election and the role of the university community in supporting the democratic process.
