Magura: National Library Day-2026 was observed in Magura today with a series of events including a discussion meeting, a prize distribution ceremony, and a colorful rally. The theme for the day was "Knowledge is Liberation, the Foundation of the Future."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the events commenced at 10:00 am with a discussion and prize-giving program held at the Revenue Branch Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. The event was jointly organized by the District Administration and the District Government Public Library, Magura.
The meeting was presided over by Mohammad Habibur Rahman, the Librarian of the District Government Public Library. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Qader was present as the chief guest, while special guests included Professor Abu Sayeed Molla from the English Department of Government Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Assistant Director of the District Social Services Office Zahidul Alam, and District Information Officer Pavel Das.
The speakers emphasized the importance of fostering reading habits and the practice of knowledge to build a more enlightened and humane society. They also called for the strengthening of public library activities to better engage the younger generation.
Following the discussion, prizes were awarded to the winners of various competitions. Earlier in the day, a colorful rally was organized, starting from the Revenue Building of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. The rally traversed major streets of the town before concluding back at the starting point.
Participants in the program included students from various educational institutions, their guardians, officials, and employees from both government and non-government offices.
