Abid Traders Fined for Producing Fake Palm Candy in Bogura

Bogura: The District Food Safety Authority has imposed a fine of Taka 5 lakh on a local establishment for producing fake and unsafe palm candy (Tal Mishri) during a mobile court drive in the district town.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation took place in the Atapara area, where authorities discovered that M/s Abid Traders was manufacturing palm candy using banned textile dyes and falsely marketing it as baby food. Additionally, the establishment was found to be operating in highly unhygienic and unsanitary conditions.



The mobile court revealed that the establishment was involved in packaging palm candy in counterfeit wrappers and utilizing harmful chemical dyes in the preparation of chanachur, semai, and bundia, posing significant health risks to consumers.



Following these findings, the mobile court imposed the hefty fine on Abid Traders. The unsafe baby food products and related materials were seized and destroyed publicly in accordance with legal procedures.



The operation was spearheaded by Executive Magistrate Faisal Ahmed, with District Safe Food Officer Md. Russell and officials from the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority in attendance. Authorities have stated that such drives will continue in order to ensure food safety and protect public health.
