BNP Polls Rally Held in Bagerhat-2 Constituency

Bagerhat: An election rally of the BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for the Bagerhat-2 constituency was held today. The rally, organized at the Basabati Amtola ground of Bagerhat Municipality, drew a large crowd of BNP supporters. Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, the BNP candidate contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol from the Bagerhat Sadar-1 constituency, attended the rally as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Ward No. 8 BNP President Sheikh Faizul Haque Montu.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, addressing the rally, Barrister Zakir stated that the BNP believes “religion belongs to everyone and law belongs to everyone,” emphasizing his commitment to stand beside people of all religions to protect their rights. He further stated that if elected, he aimed to transform Bagerhat into a modern, planned, and livable city. His pledges included improving roads and drainage systems, ensuring a safe water supply, reducing municipal taxes, building a drug-free society, and enhancing municipal infrastructure.



The BNP candidate also promised to address issues such as canal encroachment by clearing and renovating them, establishing secondary schools in the Basabati area, excavating ponds, removing illegal structures, and turning Bagerhat into an industrial city by creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth. He expressed his commitment to working in unity for the welfare of the country and the nation.



Earlier in the day, Barrister Zakir conducted mass contact in his home area of Shatgumbaj Union in support of his candidacy. He later attended two separate election meetings in Moghia Union of Kachua upazila and at the Andharmanik School ground in the afternoon. At the conclusion of the program, special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the soul of late BNP Chairperson and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
