Lalmonirhat: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman announced today that the Teesta master plan would be executed regardless of any challenges if Jamaat assumes power. He emphasized that the Teesta River, initially intended to benefit northern Bangladesh, has become a burden due to poor planning and neglect. He stressed the necessity of the master plan to reverse this situation during an election rally at the Teesta Helipad Ground in Lalmonirhat.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed his commitment to transforming the Teesta into a vibrant river and establishing northern Bangladesh as an agricultural and industrial hub. He stated, “Insha’Allah, the Teesta master plan will be implemented at any cost. The interests of the people come first. Any obstacle that goes against these interests will not be accepted.” He further assured that the Teesta would be revitalized and serve as an economic center for the region.

Dr. Shafiqur also detailed plans for northern Bangladesh to become a major center for agriculture and industry, with products catering to both local and international markets. He called for collective prayers to achieve these goals. Referring to the upcoming national election, he predicted an end to opportunistic politics, asserting that the people desire change through justice-based governance.

At the rally, Dr. Shafiqur officially handed over the party’s election symbol, the scales, to Jamaat-nominated candidates from seven constituencies in Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts, urging voters to support Jamaat in the forthcoming election. The event saw a large turnout, with thousands of leaders, activists, and supporters filling the Teesta Helipad Ground, creating a lively atmosphere. Dr. Shafiqur arrived on stage at around 1:00 pm.

The rally was presided over by Lalmonirhat district Jamaat Ameer and Lalmonirhat-3 constituency candidate Advocate Abu Taher, with district Jamaat Secretary Firoz Haider Lovelu conducting the program. Jamaat-nominated candidates from various constituencies, including Anwarul Islam Raju, Principal Abdul Sattar, Advocate Al-Faruk, Obaidullah Salafi, and Hafez Maulana Muntakim, were also present.
