Khulna: Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, PSC, today stated that Ansar and VDP members will execute their duties during the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum in collaboration with other forces. He emphasized that 13 Ansar members will be deployed at each polling center to maintain vigilant guard. Arms support for Ansar members has been increased to ensure a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful election, enabling them to perform their responsibilities without fear or intimidation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DG made these remarks while addressing an election preparatory rally of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Khulna district, as the chief guest at Khulna District Stadium this afternoon. He highlighted the significance of the day for Ansar members, noting that this was the first time such a rally was held ahead of an election. Similar rallies are planned to be organized in all districts in phases.
Out of more than 9 lakh registered Ansar and VDP members, approximately 5.6 lakh will be deployed during the election. The DG remarked, ‘Our members are spread from Teknaf to Tetulia and are continuously working with the noble pledge of serving the country.’
The event was attended by Deputy Director General of Khulna Range Md Nurul Hasan Faridi, District Commandant of Khulna Md Minhaj Arefin, and nearly 11,000 Ansar and VDP members from Khulna district. Later, the Director General exchanged views with officers of the Khulna Ansar and VDP offices regarding the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum.
