Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced today that the government has decided to rename the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to the Special Intervention Force (SIF). “We have decided to change the name of RAB in line with the people’s expectations,” he stated during a response to a question at a core committee meeting on law and order held at the Home Ministry in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser noted that the approach to discharging duties has undergone significant changes compared to the situation one and a half years ago. Home Ministry sources have indicated that the Chief Adviser has already approved this decision, and a government order formalizing the name change will be issued soon.
Additionally, the sources revealed that the force will receive a new uniform as part of the rebranding initiative.
