Chattogram: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today emphasized that the nation would not be divided by revisiting past issues, advocating for progress under the leadership of the youth. He expressed a strong determination to empower young people by entrusting them with leadership roles to propel the country forward. Dr. Rahman commended students from various universities for their courage in raising their voices against extortion, corruption, land grabbing, and the disrespect of women.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Rahman made these remarks during an election rally at the Bandar School and College ground in Chattogram city at 8:00 pm on Monday night. He voiced concern over the mistreatment of mothers and sisters, emphasizing the importance of respecting and protecting women. He declared that no family card or document holds more value than a mother’s honor and underscored the need to uphold women’s dignity in all areas of life.
Calling for unity, Dr. Rahman urged for harmony and equality among people of all religions and castes, envisioning a society where everyone can live safely and securely. He pledged to work towards ensuring the safety of women in their homes, communities, and workplaces.
The Jamaat Ameer also highlighted the goal of building a proud and self-reliant nation that is not indebted to anyone. He echoed the youth’s demand for justice and stated that efforts to achieve justice for all citizens would continue unabated, warning that intimidation would not halt the movement.
Dr. Rahman emphasized the broader objective of establishing Bangladesh as a just country and expressed solidarity with the people. He urged voters to support the “yes” vote on the referendum to uphold justice in society, noting that the movement involves all 11 allied parties and is based on unity.
The public meeting was presided over by Jamaat-e-Islami Chattogram City Ameer Nazrul Islam. Former MP ANM Shamsul Islam, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Ali Osman, NCP Central Joint Member Secretary Dr. Mahmuda Mithu, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) Vice President Engineer Rashed Pradhan, Jamaat-e-Karmak Council member Professor Ahsan Ullah Bhuiyan, DUCSU GS SM Farhad, and Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Secretary General Sibgatullah Sibga also spoke at the event.
