Naogaon: In the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Naogaon-1 constituency is set to witness a fierce contest between the Sheaf of Paddy and the Scales. Naogaon-1, comprising Porsha, Sapahar, and Niamatpur upazilas, is recognized as a stronghold of the BNP, with a total of 407,465 registered voters, including 238,684 female voters, 235,377 male voters, and 4 third-gender voters.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of five candidates are vying for this seat, actively engaging with voters across the three upazilas, promising various benefits. The candidates, along with their party leaders and activists, are persistently campaigning door-to-door, creating a lively electoral environment.
BNP-nominated candidate Mostafizur Rahman, who serves as the General Secretary of Niamatpur Upazila BNP, is contesting this election. Despite the presence of a BNP rebel candidate, former MP Dr. Shalek Chowdhury, who is President of Niamatpur Upazila BNP, party leaders and supporters have rallied behind Mostafizur Rahman, who holds the Sheaf of Paddy symbol.
In the midst of this, Jamaat candidate Principal Mahbubul Alam is also actively contesting, supported by his party leaders and activists. The primary competition is anticipated to be between the Sheaf of Paddy and the Scales, despite the presence of other candidates such as Md. Abdul Haque Shah of Islami Andolan and Md. Akbar Ali Kalu of the Jatiya Party.
Local voters, like Enadul Haque from Saharand village and Awal from Boldahar village, express confidence in the BNP's potential to secure victory, indicating their support for Mostafizur Rahman. The election outcome in this constituency may hinge on the robust campaigning efforts and the strong local support base for the Sheaf of Paddy candidate.
