Jashore: BNP candidate for Jashore-3 constituency Aninda Islam Amit today affirmed that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) would not endorse any reforms that negate the Liberation War or diminish its essence. “BNP firmly believes that Bangladesh cannot exist by denying the Liberation War,” he stated during a view-exchange meeting with freedom fighters at the Jashore District Muktijoddha Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was addressed by leaders of the freedom fighters, including Abdul Malek, and chaired by District Muktijoddha Sangsad Convener Abdul Latif. Amit, speaking as the chief guest, emphasized that the fundamental aim of any reform should be to fortify parliamentary democracy and maintain a balance of power between the President and the Prime Minister.

He highlighted that BNP had put forward its reform proposals in 2023 to avert the rise of dictatorship or fascism in the future. Amit conveyed to the freedom fighters that they are rallying across the nation under the BNP banner. “The party founded by valiant freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman remains committed to upholding the dignity and honour of freedom fighters,” he remarked.

Amit assured that as a political entity, BNP and its Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman would never permit any action that insults the Liberation War or shows disrespect to freedom fighters. The meeting was also attended by leaders of the District Freedom Fighters’ Association and local BNP leaders.
