Muggers Loot Tk 24 Lakh in Violent Gazipur Heist

Gazipur: Muggers looted Tk 24 lakh by firing gunshots and exploding crude bombs in the Basan area of Gazipur on Sunday afternoon. Witnesses reported that Saiful Islam, a staff member of a Dutch-Bangla Bank agent outlet owned by Shafiqul Islam, was heading towards the Chandona intersection around 4:00 p.m. to deposit money at a bank.



According to United News of Bangladesh, as Saiful reached in front of Kajimuddin School, a group of six muggers on motorcycles intercepted him. They fired two rounds of bullets and seized Tk 24 lakh from his possession. The assailants also detonated several crude bombs to incite panic in the vicinity.



Following the incident, a deputy police commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police and Harun-or-Rashid, the Officer-in-Charge of Basan Police Station, visited the scene. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the heist.



The police are currently investigating the incident, as stated by the Officer-in-Charge.
