Dhaka: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced today that if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) wins the upcoming election, it will ensure the rehabilitation of families affected by the July Uprising. Rizvi emphasized the unparalleled sacrifices made by the fighters during the uprising, and reiterated the party's commitment to their welfare.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made these comments while speaking to the media after visiting Firoza Akhtar, the ailing spouse of martyr Firoz Ahmed from the July Uprising, in Lalmatia. The BNP leader underscored the party's promise to implement the BNP Chairman's pledge to provide state facilities and comprehensive rehabilitation to the families of the martyrs and injured individuals.
Rizvi detailed that a meeting occurred yesterday between BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and families of those seriously injured. During the meeting, the Chairman was visibly moved by a mother's emotional plea. On the spot, he instructed Rizvi and Atiqur Rahman Ruman to visit the family in Dhaka to learn about their struggles.
Following the Chairman's directive, Rizvi visited the family of martyr Firoz, originally from Goyalia Thana in Rajshahi, who suffered during the violent events on August 5th. The family is currently residing at a relative's home in Dhaka. Rizvi assured that the BNP would maintain constant communication with them to ensure they receive necessary support and that martyr Firoz's children's education continues uninterrupted.
In the context of the upcoming election, Rizvi expressed concerns about the Election Commission's impartiality and urged them to prevent any rigging. He stated that it is essential for the government to ensure a free and fair election process, allowing people to vote without any irregularities.
The meeting was attended by several BNP officials, including Atiqur Rahman Ruman, Abul Kashem, Engineer Mostafa-e-Jaman Selim, Dr. Rafiqul Islam, and others, who showed solidarity and support for the affected families.
