Jahangir Visits Police Training on Election Duties

Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today visited a police training workshop on skills and capacity building for electoral duties at the DMP Training Academy in Rajarbagh, ahead of the 13th national election. He reviewed the 23rd batch of the three-day course and urged police members to remain neutral, professional, and responsible to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training, which began on October 5, 2025, aims to strengthen police efficiency during elections and has been imparted to 18,150 personnel so far, as part of a plan to train 24,342 cops in 28 batches. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, Additional IGP (Dev) Sardar Nurul Amin, Additional Police Commissioner (admin) of DMP Md Sarwar, and senior police officials were present.



The Home Affairs Adviser provided important guidelines to the field-level police members to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and orderly election. He emphasized that the national election is an important state responsibility, where the role of the police is very significant. He stated that every member of the police on the ground during the election will be a symbol of public trust.



He further mentioned that every police member must perform election duties by maintaining the highest standard of responsibility, honesty, and professionalism. He provided guidelines on what police should do before, during, and after the election.
