Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today announced the identification of eight July martyrs, whose bodies were previously buried as unclaimed at Rayerbazar Graveyard in the city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shafiqul Alam shared that the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is set to release detailed information to the media shortly. During a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, he confirmed that the families of the identified martyrs have been informed, and the identification was completed successfully.

Shafiqul Alam explained that DNA sample analysis was crucial to the identification process. He emphasized that Bangladeshi personnel received specialized training to handle such tasks, aiming to prevent future challenges in identification efforts.

Drawing parallels with the Bosnia war's aftermath, Shafiqul Alam noted that the identification process for the Srebrenica massacre victims involved meticulous effort. The same experts who managed that complex process also conducted the training in Bangladesh.

Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder and Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammad were also present at the briefing, providing additional support and information.
