Dhaka: Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadur Rouf has been entrusted with the additional responsibilities of the Attorney General of Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification was issued by Law and Justice Division Secretary Liaquet Ali Molla, confirming that President has assigned Arshadur Rouf with this new responsibility. This appointment follows the resignation of the country's 17th Attorney General, Md Asaduzzaman, who stepped down to participate in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. Asaduzzaman is set to contest from the Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency representing the BNP.
Md Asaduzzaman, a senior advocate, was appointed as the Attorney General on August 8, 2024, following the events of the July Mass Uprising. His decision to resign marks a significant shift as he transitions from his legal role to a political challenge in the forthcoming elections.
