Tangail: A mother and her eight-month-old daughter lost their lives in a tragic road accident when a truck collided with a stationary private car on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred in the Gorai area of Mirzapur upazila. The victims were identified as Sadiya Kabir, 32, from Sonagazi upazila in Feni district, and her infant daughter, Tajri Kabir Priyam.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gorai Highway Police Station, Sarowar Alam, reported that the private car, which was carrying passengers, was en route to Dhaka from the northern region. The car had stopped by the roadside in the Gorai area when a truck, approaching from behind, crashed into it. The impact left the vehicle severely damaged, resulting in the immediate deaths of the mother and her daughter.
The driver of the private car along with two other passengers sustained injuries and have been admitted to Mirzapur Hospital for treatment. Police have stated that the bodies will be released to the family after the completion of legal formalities.
