Dhaka: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today announced his plan for the people of Bangladesh, aiming to build a prosperous and safe nation, as he called for cooperation from all corners to bring his vision to fruition. Addressing a massive crowd at the July 36 Expressway in the capital, Rahman was welcomed home after spending 17 years in exile in the UK.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman drew parallels between his vision and the iconic words of American civil rights leader Martin Luther King, referencing King’s famous quote, ‘I have a dream.’ Rahman expressed his aspirations for the country, saying, “Today, standing on the soil of Bangladesh, before all of you, I want to say this: I have a plan for the people of my country and for my country.”
Rahman emphasized that his plan is oriented towards the interests and development of the nation, aiming to alter the destiny of the people. He sought the support of the populace to implement this plan, stating, “If that plan, that course of action, that vision is to be implemented, dear brothers and sisters, from this sea of people present here today, and from all those across Bangladesh who represent the strength of democracy, I will need the cooperation of every single person.”
The historic address by Tarique Rahman was notably timed to coincide with Martin Luther King’s famous speech, both lasting approximately 17 minutes, marking a symbolic connection between their messages of hope and change.
