Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has announced that an unforgettable event is set to take place in the country’s 55-year history with the return of Tarique Rahman. He emphasized that the return of the BNP Acting Chairman marks a significant moment in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin Ahmed made these remarks while speaking to journalists at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on the occasion of Tarique Rahman’s arrival. He expressed hope that the entire country would witness and celebrate this moment as a historical milestone.

Salahuddin highlighted the long struggle for democracy and voting rights, stating that a new hope has emerged among the people. He mentioned that the struggle for democracy and voting rights, which spanned 16 to 17 years, has culminated through a student-mass uprising. He declared that fascism has fallen, democracy has been unchained, and the nation stands in a liberated atmosphere.

The BNP leader acknowledged that fascist forces and their allies, both local and foreign, remain active and might attempt to disrupt Bangladesh’s democratic transition and elections. However, he assured that such efforts would be resisted collectively. Salahuddin expressed the desire to build a truly democratic, non-discriminatory, and well-governed state with the cooperation of the people following the democratic transition.
