CA Orders Arrest of Hadi’s Killers, Urges Law and Order Before Polls

Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed law enforcement agencies to swiftly arrest those involved in the killing of Osman Hadi and others engaged in illegal activities, emphasizing the need to maintain law and order at any cost before the national elections. ‘Ahead of the upcoming national election, the law and order situation must be kept normal at any cost,’ he stated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser issued these directives during a meeting to review the country’s overall law and order situation at the State Guest House Jamuna. The meeting, held on Sunday, was attended by Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman, and senior officials from various security and law enforcement agencies.



Detailed discussions during the meeting covered several key issues, including security measures related to the return of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, preparations for upcoming Christmas and English New Year celebrations, and related security arrangements. The progress of investigations and arrests concerning the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson and July fighter Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi was also reviewed.



Police officials reported to the Chief Adviser that video footage has led to the identification of 31 suspects involved in recent attacks on the offices of two national daily newspapers and two cultural organizations. According to law enforcement agencies, at least nine individuals have been arrested in raids conducted in the city and other parts of the country in connection with these attacks.



The identities of seven of those arrested have been confirmed: Md Kashem Faruqi, Md Saidur Rahman, Rakib Hossain, Md Naim, Faisal Ahmed Pranta, Md Sohel Rana, and Md Shafikul Islam. Efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects are ongoing. The identities of two individuals arrested by the police’s Counter Terrorism Unit and the Intelligence Police are still being verified.



Additionally, three people involved in attempts to create disorder near the residence of the Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram have been identified through video analysis.
