Dhaka: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has successfully recovered the motorcycle, helmet, and a fake number plate used in the attack on Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Osman Hadi. The recovery took place in the Banalata residential area under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station at around 8:45 am on December 14.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CTTC members, acting on a tip-off, discovered the motorcycle and helmet in the ground-floor parking area of a house. The fake number plate was retrieved from a nearby manhole. Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed these details.
CTTC officials have noted that an analysis of CCTV footage indicated that the motorcycle's number plate had been altered. Investigators revealed that the motorcycle had changed ownership eight times. Initially owned by Abdur Rahman, it was subsequently sold multiple times, eventually being purchased under the name of Mainuddin Islam using the national identity card of Md Kabir, who is associated with Faisal Karim Masud, the main suspect in the attack.
The recovered items have been handed over to the Detective Branch for further investigation. Sharif Osman Hadi, who is also a candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, sustained injuries from a shooting on Friday and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore.
