Cox’s bazar: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain today emphasized that the Great Liberation War was an armed protest against oppression and deprivation. He shared these insights as the chief guest at the ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of Al-Iman Adarsha Mohila Alim Madrasah and the unveiling of Al-Iman commemorative-2 in Uttar Jhapuya of Maheshkhali upazila, as highlighted in an official release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khalid prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs of the Liberation War and noted that the nation has entered its 55th year of victory. Despite several achievements over the past 54 years, he pointed out a significant gap between the nation’s expectations and actual gains. He urged individuals to avoid theft, looting, corruption, violence against women, and other anti-national activities and called for the building of moral character to establish Bangladesh as an ideal state.

Dr. Khalid also compared Bangladesh’s progress to other countries that gained independence around the same time, noting that these nations have advanced significantly in terms of GDP, per capita income, and forex reserves. He criticized those who exploit national resources for personal gain, labeling them as enemies of the country.

Highlighting the role of women’s education, the adviser remarked on the historical significance of women in societal development and state administration, including their participation in wars. He acknowledged the extraordinary contribution of women during the Liberation War and emphasized the need for collective efforts to promote female education.

The event was overseen by Dr. Muhammad Rashid Jahed, Dean of the Faculty of Shariah at International Islamic University and founder of Al-Iman Adarsha Mohila Alim Madrasah. Key figures such as Allama Muhammad Furqanullah Khalil, Chief Director of Jamia Darul Ma’arif Al Islamia of Chattogram, served as the main discussant at the program. Special guests included Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Planning Md Abul Hashem, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Maheshkhali Upazila Abu Zafar Mazumder, Officer-in-Charge Md Mujibur Rahman, and member of the madrasah’s Board of Directors Ekhlasur Rahman.

Following the ceremony, the religious affairs adviser visited the under-construction Islamic Mission Centre at Deodighi in Satkania upazila of Chattogram.
