Dhaka: Adviser of LGRD and Cooperatives and Housing and Public Works Adilur Rahman Khan today stated that the people of Bangladesh want an end to border killings. He made these remarks during the unveiling ceremony of the nameplate of ‘Felani Avenue’, which honors the memory of Felani, a teenage girl who was killed by BSF gunfire at the border.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and took place at the Gulshan-2 roundabout. Adilur Rahman Khan highlighted the significance of naming the road after Felani, aiming to serve as a daily reminder of the incident. He emphasized the ongoing issue of border killings affecting Bangladesh and expressed the government’s commitment to addressing this concern.
The inauguration of the road in Felani’s name was also marked as part of the Victory Day celebrations. Local Government Division Secretary Md. Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, Public Works Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam, RAJUK Chairman Engr Md. Reazul Islam, and DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz, along with other DNCC officials, attended the event.
