Rangpur: Rangpur district and metropolitan units of Ganosamhati Andolon (GSA) observed Victory Day 2025 by paying tribute to the martyrs of the War of Liberation. The tributes were marked by laying wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ceremony was led by Rangpur district GSA convener and the party-nominated MP candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency, Touhidur Rahman, along with Rangpur metropolitan unit convener Abdul Jabbar Sarkar. During the event, Touhidur Rahman emphasized the importance of unity in the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War and the national unity seen during the July 2024 mass uprising, honoring all martyrs who fought for equality, human dignity, and social justice.
Rahman urged everyone to remain united in order to build a new political settlement and a democratic Bangladesh, aiming to fulfill the aspirations that emerged from the War of Liberation and the July 2024 mass uprising. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Joint convener of Rangpur metropolitan GSA Shamsul Islam, Metropolitan joint member secretary Touhidul Islam Babla, and general secretary of the Rangpur Tailors, Workers, and Employees Union Jobaidul Islam. Additionally, Sadar upazila organiser Rubel Ashraf and other local GSA leaders and workers were present at the event.
