Dhaka: The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2,191 cases against motor vehicles for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital. A media release from the DMP highlighted the enforcement actions undertaken on Saturday, December 13, as part of their regular operations targeting traffic rule violations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP's efforts led to a significant number of vehicles being penalized, with 391 motor vehicles being dumped and 190 wrecked due to poor driving practices. Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP, provided these details as part of the release.
The breakdown of cases filed by different traffic divisions shows that Motijheel division accounted for the highest number with 347 cases. This was followed by Gulshan traffic division with 389 cases, Uttara division with 319 cases, Tejgaon division with 283 cases, Mirpur division with 260 cases, Wari traffic division with 229 cases, Ramna division with 198 cases, and Lalbagh division with 173 cases.
According to the press release, several teams of the DMP traffic division are actively working to streamline the traffic system in Dhaka. Their goal is to facilitate ease of movement for city residents. The release also emphasized that the ongoing campaign against traffic violators aims to maintain discipline on the streets of Dhaka.
