Dhaka: The National Legal Aid Organization has extended its legal services to 192,702 individuals through its national helpline toll-free call center (16430), as revealed by official sources today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this information was published in a report on the Legal Aid website, outlining the legal aid services provided from 2009 to October 2025. The initiative initially began at the district level targeting disadvantaged and insolvent individuals, and later expanded to include services at the Supreme Court, the toll-free call center, labor legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram, and all prisons nationwide.

The report noted a recent change in the toll-free number, simplifying access to the service with the new number being 16699. Legal Aid’s activities related to labor law assistance commenced in 2013, while the national helpline call center was launched in 2016. Since then, 192,702 people have benefitted from the legal advisory services provided.

Furthermore, the report highlighted that before the establishment of the helpline call center, 17,328 individuals received legal advice via hotline-based information services. These services are offered at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act to ensure support for financially insolvent litigants.

The National Legal Aid Organization operates under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
