Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep condolences to Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh over the loss of lives or missing and severe damage caused by the recent devastating floods in central Vietnam. “We are deeply saddened by the recent devastating floods in central Vietnam, which have left more than a hundred people dead or missing and caused severe damage to the country’s agriculture and infrastructure,” he wrote to the Vietnam Prime Minister in a message today. The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing released the message here this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser extended his deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and the People of Bangladesh to the bereaved families. He conveyed sympathies to those injured and affected by the tragic flood. Prof Yunus highlighted Bangladesh’s understanding of the human suffering and economic impact of such natural disasters due to its own climate vulnerability. He expressed prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls and the quick recovery of the injured, hoping for Vietnam’s swift rebuilding and recovery from the floods’ adverse impacts.
Bangladesh stands ready to extend all possible support and cooperation to Vietnam if required, the Chief Adviser stated, adding assurances of his highest consideration to the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
