Robi Axiata Contributes Over Taka 6 Crore to Labour Welfare Fund

Dhaka: Robi Axiata PLC, one of the leading mobile telecommunications operators in Bangladesh, has contributed a significant sum to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation (BLWF) as part of its annual corporate responsibility. The company handed over a cheque amounting to Taka 6,14,93,580, representing 0.5 percent of its annual dividend, in compliance with the Bangladesh Labour Law 2006.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cheque was presented to Labour, Employment and Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain at his office. Officials from Robi Axiata, including Mohammad Rabiul Alam, Head of Risk and Compliance, and Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability, were present at the handover ceremony.



During the event, the Labour, Employment and Shipping Adviser acknowledged the significance of such contributions from corporate entities, emphasizing their role in the welfare of laborers. He noted that this financial aid is crucial for improving the socio-economic conditions of workers in both institutional and non-institutional sectors. The funds are earmarked for providing financial support to families of distressed and deceased laborers, student stipends, and emergency medical treatments.



The event was also attended by Labour and Employment Secretary Dr. M Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan and BLWF’s Director General M Munir Hossen Khan.
