Begum Rokeya’s Ideals to Inspire Women for Generations: Tarique Rahman

Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has paid profound tribute to Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain, highlighting her lasting influence on women's empowerment. He emphasized that her life and ideals will continue to inspire and encourage women across generations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman expressed his sentiments on his verified Facebook page, marking the birth and death anniversary of Begum Rokeya. He conveyed his respect and prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul. Rahman acknowledged Begum Rokeya's pioneering role as a torchbearer for women's awakening, despite being born into a conservative family.

Rahman noted that Begum Rokeya, through her life experiences, recognized the causes of women's backwardness in society and firmly believed that education is the foundation of women's dignity. He emphasized her efforts in spreading women's education, proving that through knowledge, personality and self-confidence can flourish. She was instrumental in initiating efforts to enlighten disadvantaged Muslim women in the country.

While advocating for women's liberation, Begum Rokeya faced criticism and attacks from conservative forces, yet she remained steadfast and uncompromising in her mission. Through her powerful writings, she challenged injustice and discriminatory attitudes towards women, placing women's autonomy and dignity at the forefront of family, society, and the economy.

Rahman further highlighted her belief in education as essential for women's self-reliance and her efforts in building social movements despite numerous obstacles. He expressed confidence that Begum Rokeya's philosophy, centered on true freedom for women, will continue to inspire future generations.
