Kutubdia: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar has revealed that 32,000 assistant teachers are unable to be promoted due to ongoing court cases, leaving an equal number of head teacher positions vacant across primary schools. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Poddar highlighted the issue during a visit to Koiyarbil Government Primary School in Kutubdia upazila. He assured reporters that efforts are being made to resolve the legal matters, which he believes will address many challenges once settled. The adviser emphasized the evident shortage of teachers observed during his visits to schools in Kutubdia and noted that recruiting new teachers would mitigate shortages, especially in remote and geographically isolated areas like Kutubdia. Earlier in the day, Professor Poddar inspected the classrooms, infrastructure, and administrative facilities at Uttar Lemshikhali Government Primary School and Purba Dhurung Government Primary School. He also took the opportun ity to visit Kutubdia's historic lighthouse and beach. The adviser's visit was attended by several officials, including his wife Rama Saha, Dhaka Divisional Primary Education Deputy Director Mohammad Ali Reza, Cox's Bazar District Primary Education Officer Mohammad Shahin Mia, Kutubdia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kyathoipru Marma, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Shakib Ul Hasan, Acting Upazila Education Officer Muslim Uddin, Upazila Agriculture Officer Asim Kumar Das, and Upazila Public Health Engineer Mohammad Farhad Mia.
