Dhaka: An environmental awareness campaign titled 'Stop Burning Fallen Leaves' was held today at Dhaka University (DU). The campaign aimed to promote clean air and a greener, more livable campus environment.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign was jointly organized by DU Arboriculture Centre, DUCSU, Green Future Foundation, and Paribesh Sangsad. The event featured DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan as the chief guest, who emphasized that environmental protection should be a daily practice rather than limited to specific programs or days.

In his address, Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan highlighted various measures being undertaken by the university to protect the environment. He mentioned that the DU administration is actively involved in greening the Mall Chattar, marking century-old trees, and preserving safe habitats for birds. The Vice-Chancellor also urged the community to avoid using fireworks during New Year celebrations and to cease the practice of burning fallen leaves.

Additionally, Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan underscored the importance of training programs for cleaners to ensure better environmental practices on campus.
