Dhaka: Two more people have succumbed to dengue fever in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths attributed to the disease to 396 this year. During the same period, 516 new dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from the health emergency operation and control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the latest figures. The report detailed the distribution of new cases: 49 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 96 patients each in Chattogram and Dhaka divisions, 127 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 75 in Dhaka South City Corporation, six in Khulna division, 28 in Mymensingh division, 31 in Rajshahi division, five in Rangpur division, and three in Sylhet division.
Meanwhile, 540 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours. This adds to the total of 95,744 patients who have been released after receiving treatment this year. Overall, the number of individuals infected with dengue in the country stands at 97,829, with 62.4 percent being male and 37.6 percent female.
In comparison, the previous year saw 101,214 dengue diagnoses and a death toll of 575, highlighting the ongoing severity of the outbreak and the challenges faced by healthcare providers.
