Dhaka: The jatra-troupe New Sumi Opera from Bholanagar of Narsingdi is preparing to present Alomati Premkumar Jatra tomorrow at 6:30 pm. The performance will take place at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) as part of the month-long jatrapala observance following the celebration of the month of victory.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the play is penned by Jashim Uddin and directed by Sumi Akter. Earlier today, another play titled Gunai Bibi, written by Jashim Uddin and directed by Ripon Jomadar, was performed by Niha Jatra Unit of Kanaighat.
The festival, organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and managed by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, began on December 1. It features 36 troupes staging 36 plays, including a special Victory Day production titled General Osmani. The jatra shows are scheduled daily at 6:30 pm, with tickets available for Tk 100.
