Dhaka: Former students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have officially formed Jabian Club Limited, following government approval issued on November 6 this year. The organisation is the first registered club formed by JU graduates.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Fahmida Akter Khatun of the 10th batch is serving as the club's president, while Group Captain (Retd.) Abu Hena Md Ameerul Ahsan, also from the 10th batch, is acting as the general secretary. This information was detailed in a press release signed by General Secretary Group Captain (Retd.) Abu Hena Md Ameerul Ahsan.
The founding directors held their first official meeting on Friday at the club office in Dhaka, in compliance with government regulations. The meeting was chaired by Additional Secretary (Retd.) Md Tahiyat Hossain of the 9th batch. The discussions centered around the future direction, work plan, and organisational procedures of Jabian Club Limited, ensuring all activities aligned with government instructions.
The meeting saw the presence of several founding directors, including Md Tahiyat Hossain (9th batch), Abu Hena Md Ameerul Ahsan (10th batch), Md Mahfuzur Rahman Newton (10th batch), Elma Afrin (11th batch), Rokon Siddiqui (11th batch), A K M Anisul Haque Liton (16th batch), and others from subsequent batches, up to Md Niyamul Haque from the 37th batch.
