Munshiganj: Brazilian forward Dorielton scored a brace as Bashundhara Kings registered an overwhelming 5-1 victory over Brothers Union Club in the lone fifth round match of Bangladesh Football League (BFL) held at Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj today (Friday).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the win allowed Kings to maintain their domination in the league table with 13 points from five matches. The all-orange Gopibagh outfit, Brothers Union, who are in the third position in the league table, remained with their previous collection of seven points, having played the same number of matches.
Dorielton's contributions came with goals in the 41st and 77th minutes. He was supported by forward Faysal Ahmed Fahim, Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel, and midfielder Md Sohel Rana, who each scored a goal for Kings in the 45+1st, 50th, and 54th minutes respectively. Brothers Union's Mozammel Hossain managed to pull one back in the 90th minute of the match.
Looking ahead, Bashundhara Kings will play their next match against Mohammedan Sporting Club, while Brothers Union is set to face Arambagh Krira Sangha on December 12.
In the remaining fifth round matches scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday), Rahmatganj will meet Arambagh Krira Sangha at the same venue. Bangladesh Police Football Club will face Fakirerpool Young Men's Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. Abahani Limited Dhaka will take on Fortis Football Club at Bashudhara Kings arena in the capital, and holders Mohammedan Sporting Club will play against PWD Sports Club at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
