Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 565 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours. "We recorded deaths of three dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today," a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said adding his office simultaneously recorded 565 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics revealed that one death occurred in areas under the Dhaka North City Corporation and two in Dhaka South City Corporation. The data also highlighted the geographical spread of the new cases. Out of the 565 fresh cases, 48 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 101 in Chattogram division, 67 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 253 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Other regions affected include Khulna division with 33 cases, Mymensingh division with 26, Rajshahi division with 28, Rangpur division with four, and Sylhet division with five new cases.
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed a total of 394 deaths while the disease has affected 96,627 people. In comparison, last year dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 individuals across the country.
