Habiganj: Two people, including a pickup van driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Bahubal upazila of the district this morning. The accident occurred around 8:30am in the Mauchak area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway when a Dhaka-bound truck collided with a Sylhet-bound pickup van. The impact resulted in the immediate death of the pickup driver, while its passenger, vegetable trader Liton, sustained critical injuries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team from the Shayesthaganj Highway Police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the accident. They rescued the injured passenger and transported him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, Liton succumbed to his injuries later.
The police mentioned that the identity of the deceased pickup driver has not been confirmed yet.
