Rajshahi: Newly joined Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Dr. Zillur Rahman has said that initiatives will be taken on a priority basis to ensure overall security in the city. He emphasized the need for quick steps to improve traffic management, control narcotics trafficking, and reactivate close-circuit television systems to address the challenges faced by the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Zillur Rahman made these remarks while exchanging views with journalists on the occasion of his joining as RMP Commissioner at his office conference hall. He sought full cooperation from journalists to combat all types of crimes, especially drug abuse, trafficking, and illegal trading.
He highlighted the importance of integrated efforts between police and media personnel to build a crime-free society, which he deemed crucial to supporting the government's efforts to move the country forward. Commissioner Rahman also encouraged journalists to provide constructive criticism, suggesting it would help in self-rectification and promote professionalism among police personnel.
Furthermore, he indicated that efforts will be made to infuse dynamism into activities related to traffic management, narcotics control, and CCTV surveillance to tackle crimes more effectively. During the meeting, various issues were discussed elaborately, including drug trafficking, social crimes, terrorism, extortion, beat and community policing, traffic congestion, juvenile crimes, and police-journalist relations, with a focus on devising ways to address them efficiently.
