Dhaka: A court here today ordered the seizure of tax files belonging to former Member of Parliament (MP) from Jamalpur-3 constituency, Mirza Azam, and his wife, Dewan Aleya. Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court issued the order, responding to two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the petitions highlighted that corruption cases against Mirza Azam and his wife are currently under investigation. To ensure a fair and comprehensive probe, it is deemed necessary to seize and examine their income tax files. These files, covering both permanent and miscellaneous sections, along with all pertinent records, are to be reviewed from the start of their filing history to the most recent submissions.
