Khulna: Mohammad Mithun hit a half-century to save Khulna from the ultimate shamble against Dhaka Division on Day 1 of the sixth round of National Cricket League (NCL) at Khulna Divisional Stadium today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mithun's 59 helped Khulna recover from a collapse to post 194 before being all out. Dhaka, in response, was poised to take a first innings lead, reaching 64-1 at stumps. Anisul Islam Emon was unbeaten on 35, with Foysal Ahmed on 17, after the early loss of Joyraj Sheikh who contributed 8 runs.
Sumon Khan and Mahfujur Rahman Rabby each claimed three wickets to disrupt Khulna's innings after they chose to bat first. Mithun stabilized the innings following the dismissals of Soumya Sarkar, who scored 22, and Amit Mojumder, who added 20.
Despite Mithun's efforts, support from the other end was limited until Mahfujur dismissed him for 59 off 67 balls, an innings featuring seven fours and three sixes. Sheikh Parvez Jibon was another key contributor for Khulna, scoring 34 runs.
